About the Role

This expansion role is for a Senior Network Engineer / Network Architect in the Baltimore/DC metro area to perform on-site and project-based consulting with various customers to design, implement, and support Cisco-based networks. Additionally, this critical addition to our talented team will do assessments and work on business development efforts with our Sales and our Systems Architecture teams.

In this role, you will:

Assess, design, implement, troubleshoot, and document Cisco networks and related systems
Develop both high-level and detailed implementation and test plans for Cisco technologies related to enterprise networks
Provide knowledge transfer and informal training to clients
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work in a team environment and can resolve issues independently and as a senior member of a team. Having a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and strong clear communication (verbal and written) capabilities is key.

A typical day in this role would include high-level and detailed design, implementation, operations, troubleshooting and issue resolution. You will develop documentation as it relates to project requirements and assist with or develop customer facing presentations of technology solutions.

Requirements

  • Salary: $150,000 - $180,000


 

Qualifications

  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or CCIE level expertise in Enterprise Infrastructure (formerly Route/Switch), Security, Data Center, or Service Provider (enterprise wireless and collaboration are welcome as well - let's talk)

  • 10+ years of experience in the design of large enterprise networks

  • Good understanding and practical experience with routing protocols (EIGRP, OSFP, and BGP)

  • Good understanding and practical experience with switching technologies (Spanning tree, EtherChannel, Port Security, 802.1X, MAB)

  • Familiarity with Virtual Private Network (VPN) and firewall technologies (Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Check Point, etc)

  • Must be able to work with end-users, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THE JOB!


· Candidates MUST have senior level architecture/design/implementation expertise in a post sales capacity (service delivery, not solutions architecture) with CCIE level expertise in R&S as well as a strong secondary skill set in another discipline, ideally security, but could be SP, DC, Wireless, DevNet etc.

· Base salary in the 150-180 range (might be able to go a bit higher for a stellar candidate. There is also year end profit sharing (we have paid out every year since inception - going on 21 years now)

· Must be a US Citizen due to site access requirements of a few of our Federal clients

· It would be absolutely ideal (but not required) if the candidate blogs or is a speaker at industry events.

· While we are primarily virtual, our CEO requests that candidates live in the DC/MD/VA/NC region.
